Every analytics stack accumulates “nice to have” events. After a few releases the dictionary balloons and activation becomes a vague cloud of clicks nobody trusts.
We ask one question of each candidate event: does this mark a moment the user experienced value, or only that they touched a control? Value moments stay. Pure UI noise moves to a separate low-priority stream or gets dropped.
For consumer apps in Korea we often see seasonal campaigns inflate early-week activity. Compare activation within the same acquisition cohort before rewriting onboarding.
Write the winning definition on one page and pin it where engineering and product both look. Schema sprints fail when the definition lives only in a slide deck.
